The Fernández de Piérola winery was founded in 1996 with the aim of producing quality wines with a personality different from the standardized taste of most Rioja wines. With these two objectives in mind, we established our small family winery, from the family vineyards we own in Moreda (Rioja Alavesa), a traditional winemaking region.

Rioja Alavesa

Moreda (Rioja - Alavesa) is a traditional winemaking region, as confirmed in the oldest written records from the 10th century which reflect the existence of our village. These documents report the tithe payment made by the village of Rivo de Moreta to the monastery of San Millán de la Cogolla, in wine, and the consignment of must-wine to the Royal House, for the same reason.

Gastronomy

The Piérola restaurant has a warm and welcoming room for 40 guests; we have our own kitchen, specializing in dishes prepared with the best products from Rioja Alavesa, Navarra and La Rioja. One of our specialties is patatas con chorizo (potatoes with chorizo), together with vegetables (different recipes depend on the season, so as to taste the best products of the land at their best time) and, of course, lamb chops roasted on vine branches.
